Halloween 2010

Been a long time since I posted last. Not much going on with the pottery. And we had been in the great state of Texas for a week! (hey, cousin Cheryl :) Had a nice Halloween. Outdoor fire pit, carved pumpkins...neighbors dog howled like a werewolf most of the night...perfect!

Halloween decorations

I'm envious of everyone who has decorated for Halloween already!
I finally got some decorations up Saturday and snapped a few photos.

Fall 2010

This past weekend in Ohio was beautiful. It felt like fall was truly here. We went to visit a friend who owns an esoteric book store and bought some incense. We walked for a while in the Possum Run prairie which is a park we drove to on our way home. Gorgeous tall grasses swaying in the wind. The colors bleached out by the sun and a clear blue sky. The evening was clear and cool, perfect for a bonfire, burning said incense and carving the first pumpkin. Sure, maybe it's tad early. I love fall and Halloween though and want to stretch out the season as long as I can.

Traditional Tiki

Stupid Creatures

I've seen this guys stuff before.
It's all hand made. Pretty fantastic stuff.

Bone color glaze

Yes, I sculpted a bone out of clay. Just a test to see if I could mimic it. While the glaze turned out well, the underside that was unglazed has a really nice brittle bone texture.

What am I going to do with a bone you ask...(ok well maybe you didn't ask or just plain don't care...)

They'd make great Halloween stir sicks for drinks! Or a freakish paper weight.
